Brandon P. Torres, 22, of Staten Island was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, July 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The victim, Stefon Pierre, of Queens, was brought to a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6, according to Nassau County Police.
Pierre was in Haypath Road Park when he was shot in the abdomen, police said.
He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.
